Bethany Storm Damage, Updated May 20th

Town residents please be aware that the damage from this storm is more extensive and widespread than we have experienced in the past. It is likely to be multiple days before all utilities are restored throughout the town. As EverSource, Frontier and Comcast must re-construct much of the infrastructure.

Currently:

• 2% of Bethany is without power at this time EverSource is restoring power and will have crews in town day and night until power is fully restored.
• Comcast is reporting that 56% of Bethany is currently without service.
• BCS will be sending specific information to parents and guardians about drop-off and pick-up as the roads are cleared.
• Town Hall will be this opened week during normal business hour 9AM till 4:30PM.
• The Old Recycling Center located at 719 Amity Road behind the Hangar is open 8AM – 3PM, Monday - Friday for residents to bring brush.
• The Recycling Center will be closed until Wednesday May 23rd.
• Please keep checking on your neighbors, and do not hesitate to call 911 if you need emergency assistance.

Telephone and Power Line Safety:

• Stay at least 30 feet away from any downed line, and don't go near the pole or anything touching the line.
• If a downed line is near water - even a small puddle - keep well away.
• Be careful not to stand under damaged tree limbs or lines.
• Tree limbs may have become weakened during the storm may not fall until days later.
• The same can be true for damaged lines or poles.
• Don't drive or walk over downed lines.
• If a wire falls on a vehicle, passengers should stay inside the vehicle until help arrives,call 911.
• Downed lines that come in contact with a vehicle create a dangerous situation. Do not touch the vehicle.
