Bethany Teen, 18, Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver on Christmas Night: Report

A Cheshire woman has been charged with allegedly driving drunk when she struck the recent Amity High School graduate who was walking.

Robert Weidig Jr., 18, a recent Amity Regional High School graduate, was killed by an allegedly drunk driver on Christmas night, the New Haven Register reports.

The Bethany resident was struck by a car on Route 69 as he was walking near a Bethany Music & Dance event he had planned to attend.

The driver, Barbara Ross, 60, of Greens Loop in Cheshire, was charged with DUI and failure to maintain the proper lane, the Register reports.

BMAD organizer Billy Fischer wrote on social media according to the Register that “Bobby was an exceptional person, filled with love. He had suffered the death of his father within the last year and was processing his life in beautiful positive ways.”
