Canine Couples Don Tiaras and Tails for Doggy Prom

Best Friends staff and campers “put on the dog” for the big event It’s prom season for teens everywhere -- and that includes the furry, four-legged kind. Canine campers donned bow ties, boas, tiaras and tails to attend the Doggy Prom at Best Friends Pet Care in Bethany Friday. Attendees walked the red carpet to the doggy day camp room, which was decorated in a Starry Night theme with dark blue and silver streamers and stars. There was doggy dancing under the disco ball and, just like at high school proms everywhere, a doggy prom King and Queen were crowned. The staff, wearing prom attire too, took photos of each canine couple to send home to mom and dad. “Our pet parents really got into the prom spirit with some fanciful prom wear for their canine kids,” said Best Friends manager Raia Paneva. “Prom was fun for the dogs, fun for our staff and fun for the parents, too.” Best Friends is hosting Doggy Proms its pet care centers across the U.S. this week. More than 1,200 dogs are expected to participate in the 38 events. Best Friends is located at 227 Cheshire Road. For information, call 203-393-3126 or visit www.bestfriendspetcare.com.
