DNA Links Suspect To 2025 Woodbridge Vehicle Theft: PD

WOODBRIDGE, CT — An incarcerated New Britain man is accused of stealing a vehicle from a residence on Peck Hill Road in November.

Sgt. A.J. Cappiello said the vehicle was stolen on Nov. 23, 2025 and then used during the commission of multiple crimes around Connecticut.

On Monday, police served an arrest warrant on Jaybriel Claudio, 21, of 295 Chestnut St., New Britain. He is in state Department of Correction custody.

Police in Groton recovered the vehicle, which had been abandoned in that town, on Nov. 28.

Over a five-day period, the stolen vehicle had been used during the commission of numerous crimes, according to police. These included vehicle break-ins, credit card thefts and related fraudulent purchases. The stolen credit cards were used at convenience stores statewide, police said.

Woodbridge detectives processed the recovered stolen vehicle for physical and forensic evidence. All evidence was then turned over to the state Forensic Science Laboratory for processing.

According to police, DNA from the submitted evidence was linked to Claudio. He was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, first offense. After processing, he was returned to state Department of Correction custody. He was due to be arraigned today in Superior Court in New Haven.
