Driver Avoids Jail in Fatal Bethany DUI Crash

The woman struck and killed a teen while driving under the influence.

BETHANY, CT — A Cheshire woman who killed a teen in a DUI crash will avoid serving jail time. Barbara Ross pleaded guilty Tuesday to driving under the influence of alcohol.

Ross struck Robert Weidig Jr. 18, was struck on Route 69 during Christmas night in 2015. Weidig was walking near a Bethany Music & Dance event that he planned to attend.

Ross will be placed on probation for a year and a half and pay a $798 fine, according to WTNH.

Weidig was an avid guitarist and flutist and enjoyed music, his family and friends, according to his obituary.
