Ellen Scalettar Re-appointed to SCRCOG Executive Committee

The First Selectman will serve on the Regional Council of Governments

At the most recent meeting of the South Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG), Woodbridge First Selectman Ellen Scalettar was re-appointed to serve on the council’s Executive Committee as a member at large.

The SCRCOG is made up of the Chief Elected Officers of the municipalities of Bethany, Branford, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Meriden, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Wallingford, West Haven, and Woodbridge.

“I am proud to be re-elected to this dedicated group of regional leaders,” said First Selectman Ellen Scalettar. “Serving on the Executive Committee of SCRCOG during my first term in office has been a rewarding and important learning experience. I look forward to continuing to share ideas and experiences with my colleagues to better serve the residents of Woodbridge and the region.”

“Our Council of Governments has enjoyed working w First Selectman Ellen Scalettar,” said Mike Freda, First Selectman of New Haven and the newly elected Chairman of SCRCOG. “Ellen has made some very good contributions to our Council of Governments and represents Woodbridge very well.”

The South Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG) provides a platform for intermunicipal coordination, cooperation, and decision making. SCRCOG addresses numerous issues, such as those related to housing, transportation, land use planning, and economic development (via REX Development). The SCRCOG region covers approximately 570,000 people, or 1/6th of the state’s population.
