Healthcore will offer a series of informative workshops to showcase the premier rehabilitation & wellness services offered at the studio including:
 
 Pilates, Yoga, & Nutrition 
 
Raffles & refreshments

Speakers:
 
Wendy Farnen Price, is the founder of Healthcore. She is a physical
therapist, member of the APTA Oncology Section Board of Directors, Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation Practitioner, and PMA Certified Pilates Instructor.  Wendy is recognized as an expert in her field. She has been featured in magazines, newspapers, and television news programs. Wendy's holistic and skillful approach to wellness integrates the science of physical therapy with the art and mindful movement of Pilates.
 
Samantha Radin, is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist, specializing in healthy weight management and medical nutrition therapy. She is a graduate of The University of Connecticut, earning a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences. She also completed an ADA Dietetic Internship through the University of Connecticut.  Samantha is very personable and compassionate, using her nutrition expertise to guide people to healthier living. She believes that individuals can still have a love for food while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. 
 
Marianne Urbano, is a professional chef and nutrition educator. For over 20 years, she has worked as a chef and food coach for clients including Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Bob Hope. Marianne practices a whole foods approach to cooking that is inspired by nature and guided by client's tastes and needs. Marianne has a BS degree in Education from Southern CT State University; an MS in Psychology from The University of Santa Monica,CA; and a Certificate in Holistic Nutrition Education from Bauman College, Berkeley, CA.
 
Allison Shapiro, is a professional level 500 hour Kripalu yoga teacher, a holistic health counselor, certified by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, affiliated with 
Columbia University, and a certified pilates apparatus and mat instructor. She holds advanced teaching certifications in restorative yoga, yoga for healing, and positional release therapy. Allison is the purveyor of Soup for the Soul, a company she established dedicated to the organic well-being of those whose lives she touches, incorporating food, exercise and love of life.

9:00- 9:30 Introduction to Pilates, Wendy
Start your morning off right by invigorating the mind and elevating the spirit! Pilates class and discussion.
 
9:30-10:00  Nutrition for Healthy Living, Samantha
Core nutritional concepts for everyday living to promote a healthy weight. Will include discussion of tips for eating out and vacationing. "Dieting" does not work, while healthy lifestyle changes are the foundation for overall wellness.
 
10:00-10:30 Eating for Health, Marianne
Learn how to begin making food choices that reduce the risk of disease, helps manage weight, and promotes optimal health. Today's talk will introduce you to anti-inflammatory foods and teach you how to create low glycemic meals and snacks that provide nourishment and sustained energy.
 
10:30-11:00 Restorative Yoga, Allison
Experience restorative yoga using a variety of props (blankets, bolsters, walls, eye pillows, and sandbags) to support and stabilize the body while releasing deeply held tensions.  Some of the general benefits of this deep practice are: the immune system is strengthened, the  body opens and muscles relax, the nervous system is calmed, the mind quiets and healing happens. This practice is for everyone.

About Healthcore
Healthcore Studio offers Physical Therapy, private & group Pilates classes, Yoga classes and Nutritional services. Healthcore has specialized Pilates-based physical therapy programs in orthopedics, oncology, women's health and sports performance.  The small group classes are modified and personalized for each client, with an emphasis on proper form and technique.
 
Healthcore also offers "Healthy Living" programs tailored to each client's own dietary habits, lifestyle and medical needs. These programs include a complete physical and nutritional evaluation.  After a comprehensive analysis, the client is provided with a personalized nutrition or weight management plan combined with a balanced exercise or rehabilitation program.
