Failed Culvert Prompts Road Closure In Bethany, Woodbridge

Bethmour Road is now closed between Route 67 in Woodbridge and Pine Brook Crossing in Bethany due to a failed culvert beneath the road, officials announced.

Bethany First Selectman Carol R. Goldberg said the pipe beneath the road has deteriorated to the point that it can no longer safely support vehicles.

The duration of the road closure has not yet been determined, she said.

Officials in Bethany and Woodbridge are working together to assess and repair the damage.

“We understand this may be inconvenient and appreciate the public’s patience as both towns determine the full scope, cost and timeline for the necessary repairs,” Goldberg said, in an announcement.

Officials urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
