Fairfield Prep Sinks Amity Swimmers 106-80

Second loss a row for the 7-2 Spartans.

After running off seven consecutive wins and then having Glastonbury recently shatter its dreams of an undefeated season, the Amity boys swim team dropped its second meet in a row when it bowed to Fairfield Prep 106-80. The Southern Connecticut Conference meet was held Monday afternoon at the Fairfield University’s unique 25 meter pool. The Jesuits clichéd the meet by recording sweeps in both the 50 meter freestyle and the 100 meter backstroke.  They also took first and second place in diving and added a 1-3 finish in the 100 free and the 200 medley relay. On top of all that, Prep won all three relays.

The 7-2 Spartans had their moments too. Kyle Lemere (2 minutes, 3.88 seconds) and Sam Guerra (2:04.33) went 1-2 in the 200 free. Eric Holden (2:14.24) and Brian Liang (2:17.47) did the same in the 200 individual medley as did Charlie Pite (1:02.6) and his brother AJ (1:02.94) in the 100 butterfly. It was a similar story for Holden (1:07.43) and AJ Pite (1:12.44) in the 100 breaststroke. Liang won the 500 free in 4:22.10 and Guerra was third with a time of  4:23.84.

Fairfield Prep’s Bjorn Davis was first in both the 50 and 100 free with times of 25.50 and 55.91.
