June 9 was the annual meeting of the club. The meeting/luncheon was held in a member’s backyard. The setting was lovely and the cuisine was delectable.
The guest presenter was Larry Huzi, a member of the Branford Garden Club, National Garden Clubs, and Creative Arrangers of Connecticut. He is an NGC Accredited Judge and has received numerous awards from the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, including multiple blue ribbons at the Connecticut Flower and Garden Show.
Larry began with several partially arranged designs and added to each one during his presentation. His first arrangement featured anemones, ginger, calla lilies, and nigella. Because both the vase and the plant material were tall, he added gravel to the vase for stability.

The arrangement was built in a vase with a small opening on Oasis Renewal Foam, a fully biodegradable floral foam. A flower frog was placed in the foam, and chicken wire was wrapped around it and secured with green floral tape to hold the materials in place. He produced several more beautiful arrangements, and all were won in a raffle by lucky members.
