Harvest for the Hungry at Massaro Community Farm

On Thursday July 16 from 5-8pm, Massaro will hold its first Harvest for the Hungry & Pig Roast*. If you were looking for a family-friendly farm-to-table event this is for you! Early attendees are invited to view a short film about local farming in the Dairy Barn, or participate in our weekly harvest of food for our hunger relief partners. Beginning at 6pm, you will be treated to roast pork (on a roll or not), your choice of three sauces, salads made with Massaro’s fresh seasonal veggies, fruit, and your choice of strawberry or honey vanilla ice cream. Music provided by The Asberry Boys of West Haven. *Note: Attendees are encouraged to bring their own plate & utensils to support the farms sustainability efforts. Of course, we’ll have extra on hand in case you forget!

Proceeds of this event will support our commitment to give 10% of what we grow each week throughout the season to local hunger relief agencies. In 2014, Massaro Community Farm donated over 8,000 pounds of produce to those who otherwise would not have access to fresh vegetables. Since inception the farm has donated over 28,000 pounds of food back to the community.
