Intoxicated Driver Injured Trooper In Bethany: PD
The driver was over three times the legal BAC limit, police said.

BETHANY, CT — A Waterbury man was arrested after he struck a police cruiser that was parked on the side of the road in Bethany early Tuesday.
A trooper was stopped with emergency lights on on the side of Route 69 near Gaylord Mountain Road for a traffic stop. A Buick Lesabree rear-ended and sideswiped the police cruiser.
The police cruiser was disabled by damage and the trooper inside. The offending vehicle fled the scene, police said.

Troopers responded and stopped the vehicle. Operator Anthony Waiters, 32, told police he kept driving because he was scared, police said. He failed field sobriety tests and a BAC test showed he was nearly three times over the legal limit.
He was charged with DUI, evading responsibility and improper passing.
