High School Arrests: Heroin Bust, Girls Brawling and Pot Paraphernalia

Dec. 9 at 9:30 a.m. at police responded to a drug complaint. One white male, 17, from Orange, had reported that he believed a second white male, also 17 and from Orange, had stolen his wallet. Upon the return of the wallet, school officials found a packet of heroin within. One boy was charged with Larceny 6th and released on a Promise to Appear. The other was charged with Possession of Narcotics and released to his father on a $500 bond. Both have a court date of Dec. 16.
Dec. 6 at 12:45 p.m., two female juveniles from Orange were involved in an altercation in the high school lunchroom. One girl accused the other of taking clothes from her and not returning them and they argued until one girl slapped the other across the face. At that point, both of them fell to the floor and began wrestling. Both were ticketed for creating a public disturbance and have an answer date of Dec. 16.

Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. at Amity Regional High School a school security guard witnessed a female juvenile student passing a cigarette to another student. The girl was called down to the office and her backpack was searched. Officials found two marijuana-smoking pipes and three pills. The student was charged with Use and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and given a Dec. 12 court date.

Dec. 11 at 11:51 a.m. on Rt. 69 just north of Bradley Road police stopped Quatisha Smith, 33, of Winchester Ave., New Haven. She was charged with Operating With a Suspended Registration and Failure to Display Front License Plate. She was released on a Promise to Appear and given a court date of Dec. 20. Her passenger, Jameel Barnhill of Putnam Court, Waterbury, was charged with Violation of a Protective Order, taken into custody and processed, then released on a $5,000 bond. His court date is Dec. 12.
