BETHANY/WOODBRIDGE, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University
Eastern's annual graduation ceremony was held at the XL Center in Hartford on May 15, with more than 12,000 family members and friends cheering on their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, as 1,105 undergraduates and 85 graduate students received their diplomas.
Sara Abriola of Bethany, CT, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences.
Alexandria Stefanou of Woodbridge, CT, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

Springfield College
The following local students were named to the Springfield College dean's list for academic excellence for the spring 2018 term:
Dakota Kelly of Bethany, CT (06524). Kelly is studying Health Science and Pre-Physical Therapy.
Kent Ahern of Woodbridge, CT (06525). Ahern is studying Sport Management.

Rachel Plotke of Woodbridge Graduated from Muhlenberg College
Muhlenberg College held its 170th baccalaureate and commencement ceremonies on May 17 and 18. A total of 519 degrees were awarded to 511 students, and 267 students in the Class of 2018 graduated with honors and distinctions.
Rachel Plotke of Woodbridge graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Public Health.

Devon Hebert named to Siena College Dean's List for Spring 2018 Semester
Devon Hebert has been named to the Siena College Dean's List for the Spring 2018 semester. Hebert is from Bethany, CT.

Hofstra University
Hofstra University congratulates the students named to the Spring 2018 Dean's List for their outstanding academic achievement. Students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the semester to make the Dean's List.

Zoe Kelly of Bethany Graduates From the University of New Hampshire
Zoe Kelly of Bethany graduated from the University of New Hampshire in May 2018. He/she earned a MA degree in Economics.

Samantha Austin of Bethany Graduates from The University of Scranton
Samantha R. Austin of Bethany was among more than 890 bachelor's and associate's degrees at its undergraduate commencement on May 27 at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre. Very Reverend Timothy P. Kesicki, S.J., president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States, read the remarks of the principal speaker Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, who was unable to attend the ceremony in person because he is undergoing treatment for a form of acute leukemia. Both Father Kesicki and Bishop Murry, in absentia, received honorary degrees from the University. Honorary degrees were also presented to Sister Ann Walsh, I.H.M., former CEO and current assistant director of Friends of the Poor; William Whitaker, founding president of the Washington Jesuit Academy, Washington. D.C.; and Cecelia Lynett Haggerty, Times-Shamrock Communications and former University trustee.
Austin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health administration and human resources studies from The University of Scranton.

Kathryn Zielinski Graduates from Marist College
Kathryn Zielinski of Bethany, CT received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Marist College the weekend of May 18.
