Obituary: Peter Leo Garceau, 66, Formerly Of Woodbridge

Peter Leo Garceau, 66, of Guilford, passed away on November 23, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Teresa Amarante Garceau. Father of Chris (Mckenzie) Garceau of Seattle, WA, Kara (Jeffrey) Cheney of Guilford, and Kurt (Courtney) Garceau of Guilford; Son of Pauline (Plant) Garceau of Woodbridge, and the late Leo Joseph Garceau; Brother of Gerald (Laura) Garceau of Madison, Kenny (Marlene) Garceau of Bethany, Kathy (Steven) DeMorro of Yardley, PA, Paula (Peter) Hall of Fort Collins, CO, Roger (Marie) Garceau of North Haven and Joanne (Roger) Luciana of Woodbridge; grandfather of Caleb, Noah, and Luke Cheney and Carter, Brody and Paisley Garceau. He was predeceased by his son David Michael, and grandson Lathan David Cheney.

Peter grew up in Woodbridge where he graduated Amity High School and attended St. Joseph College in Jensen Beach, FL. He worked as the General Manager for Amarante’s Sea Cliff Inn for over 35 years where he demonstrated the gift of hospitality with the natural ability to connect with customers, making every patron of Amarante’s feel like family.

He was also very generous and dedicated to Vertical Church in West Haven, where he gave of his time and talents to help with administration on the Board, teaching finances, counsel marital couples, and even run cameras during services. His love for God and people shown through everything he did. He spent countless time praying for those he loved and reaching out to help in anyway he could.

Peter was selfless in giving of himself and sharing his faith. His ability to bring laughter and joy to every situation left an imprint on the heart of everyone he met. He was known to brighten up every room he walked into and always loved appending time with his family.

He will forever be remembered, and his legacy will live on through his family forever, as they take comfort in knowing he has gone home to live with his Savior, Jesus.

Friends may call Monday evening from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and may attend a memorial service Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Vertical Church, 225 Meloy Road, West Haven. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
