Several Hospitalized After 6-Car Accident Caused By Stolen Car

The accident occurred in Orange and police from Derby, Woodbridge, Orange, Milford, East Haven, and West Haven assisted in making 4 arrests.

ORANGE, CT — Six vehicles were involved in an accident in Orange, which led to several people being hospitalized on Thursday evening. One of the vehicle was stolen out of Derby that police were attempting to stop in Orange and it ended up crashing into several cars, police said. Law enforcement from Derby, Woodbridge, Orange, Milford, East Haven, and West Haven Police Departments helped in the apprehension of four juveniles who were inside the stolen car, police said.

Orange Police say they responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Route 34 near Routes 114 and 152 Thursday.

The Derby Police Department attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in their town, but the vehicle did not stop, police said. Derby officers continued behind the vehicle into Orange, where the vehicle became involved in a number of collisions with other motorists, police said.

It appears that at least six vehicles were involved in the collision, with four suffering disabling damage. No police vehicles were involved in any collision. Several people were transported to local hospitals with non life threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the stolen vehicle was taken into custody. Three passengers fled the scene and were taken into custody shortly thereafter as a result of the Derby, Woodbridge, Orange, Milford, East Haven, and West Haven Police Departments working together, police said. The Orange Volunteer Fire Department was on scene as well, making the scene safe for officers and the traveling public, police said.

All suspects appear to be juveniles; no information can be released regarding their identities at this time, police said.
