Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones, But Threatening with a Snow Shovel Will Get You Arrested

Woodbridge Police Blotter

Feb. 3, 2011

At 10 a.m. Woodbridge police responded to a report of breach of peace and arrived to find neighbors in a heated dispute over branches in a driveway. According to the police report, the previous day, the accussed had an oil delivery and the oil truck broke branches off a tree that landed in a shared driveway. The complainant picked up the sticks and put them onto the driveway of the accused,  Joseph Simione, 83, of 30 Coachman’s Lane, who began yelling and ran at the complainant swearing and brandishing a snow shovel. Police say Simione started to throw the sticks back to the neighbor’s side of the driveway, then lifted his shovel over his head as if to strike the complainant.

Simione was charged with interfering with a police officer and breach of peace. He was released on a promise to appear and was given a court date of Feb. 10.
