State Police in Bethany to Conduct DUI Enforcement over Labor Day Weekend

State roadways in the North Haven, Meriden, Shelton and Cheshire areas will have additional patrols.

BETHANY, CT — State Troopers from the Connecticut State Police, Troop I -Bethany Barracks will conduct roving DUI patrols beginning Thursday, Sept. 1, through Monday, Sept. 5, during the evening hours, authorities announced.

The patrols will concentrate on Interstate 91 and Route 15 in the North Haven area, Interstate 691 in Meriden and on Route 8 in the Shelton area. In addition, a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted on I-691 in Cheshire on Sept. 3, during the evening hours.

"These roving DUI patrols during the Labor Day Weekend are part of a continuing effort by State Police personnel to identify motorists who are operating vehicles under the influence of liquor and/or drugs," wrote Lt. David DelVecchia, the Commanding Officer at Troop I in Bethany, in a statement.

The roving DUI patrols will be in operation for several hours. State Troopers will be stopping vehicles for moving violations as well as equipment violations in order to locate operators driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Connecticut State Troopers are trained to be vigilant in their DUI enforcement efforts, and extra troopers will be on duty to concentrate on these enforcement details.
