State Police Make ID in Untimely Death in Beacon Falls
A man was found drowned in a brook in Beacon Falls.

Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime (CDMC) detectives are currently investigating an untimely death reported at 317 Burton Road in Beacon Falls.
On November 6, at approximately 4:35 p.m. Troopers from Troop I – Bethany, and police officers from the Beacon Falls Resident State Trooper’s Office, responded to 317 Burton Road for a reported drowning victim.
Upon arrival Troopers and officers located a male victim, later identified as John Kautzner, 47, of Burton Road in Beacon Falls, in a brook behind 317 Burton Road.

CPR, and other life-saving techniques were initiated, and EMS was requested. The victim was subsequently pronounced deceased by responding EMS personnel.
Troopers secured the scene and initiated an initial investigation. CDMC detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) also responded to the scene and will assist in the investigation.
The OCME will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine cause and manner of death.
CDMC detectives consider the death to be suspicious, but at this time there is no sign of criminal activity. CDMC Detectives continue to investigate.
There is no threat to the community or public, state police said.
