State Trooper Receives Medal for Saving Life in Bethany

The trooper arrived and performed life-saving CPR on a victim.

A state trooper who is credited with helping save a man’s life through CPR was awarded the Medal for Lifesaving from the Connecticut State Police.

Trooper First Class Benjamin Kores responded to a Bethany call shortly before noon on Jan. 3. A 65-year-old man was having trouble breathing and had low blood pressure and a faint pulse.

Kores helped calm his wife by speaking in his native Russian. He began performing CPR after he was unable to find a pulse.

Town EMS took over and the victim was revived at the scene.
