Traffic Stops Lead to Arrests

May 31 during a routine traffic stop at Rt. 67 and Acorn Hill Rd., police arrested Raphael Blancharr, 24, of Hill Street in Waterbury,  on a warrant for failure to respond to an infraction. He was taken into custody and posted a $75 bond. Court date is June 14.

May 24 at 1660 Amity Road, police ran a check on a marker plate and found that Jose Lugo, 57, of French Street in Bridgeport,  was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Bridgeport. Lugo was taken into custody and later picked up by Bridgeport police.

May 30, police pulled over a driver at Rt. 69 and Clark Street for failure to stop for a light. Betzaida Santos, 35, of Springbrook Road in Waterbury, was arrested and charged with having a stolen marker plate, larceny 6th by possession, improper use of marker plate, operating under suspension, and failure to obey overhead signage. Santos was released on a promise to appear and has a court date of June 9.

June 1 police pulled over a vehicle at Ansonia and Johnson Roads. After running a check on both occupants police arrested John Pinkett, 20, of 20 Howard Ave in New Haven and charged him with criminal impersonation, interfering with an officer, and criminal violation of a protective order. He was released on a $1,000 bond. Also arrested was Laneisha Sledge, 32, of the same address, and charged with having an unregistered motor vehicle, having no insurance, operating under suspension and criminal violation of a protective order. She was also released ion a $1,000 bond.
