Woodbridge Man Admits Trafficking Cocaine: Feds

WOODBRIDGE, CT — A local resident has pleaded guilty to a federal cocaine trafficking charge after police found 21 kilos hidden in secret compartments in his vehicle, according to prosecutors.

Reginald Rogers, 37, entered the plea Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport to possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.

Rogers is free on a $150,000 bond pending sentencing, which is scheduled for Aug. 26.

The charge carries a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.

Rogers was arrested as part of a Homeland Security Task Force investigation. In February, state police stopped the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek which Rogers was driving in Trumbull, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

A K9 dog alerted to the presence of narcotics. Troopers conducted a search and found about 21 kilograms of cocaine hidden in two compartments which had been installed under each front seat, prosecutors said.

Rogers was arrested on state drug charges at that time, and state Judicial Branch records show his next court date is July 1.

To resolve his federal case, Rogers also agreed to forfeit the vehicle he used to transport the narcotics, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
