Woodbridge Man Involved in 3 Hit-and-Run Accidents in Milford, Eyewitness Followed Him, Called Police: Police

Milford police say the suspect's car stopped at Keeper's Gentlemen's Club, which is an adult entertainment venue.

MILFORD, CT - Police say a Woodbridge man is accused of being involved in three hit-and-run accidents in Milford, and an eyewitness followed the suspect's car into the parking lot of an adult entertainment venue and the suspect was apprehended.

Milford police say on March 26 at 1 p.m. officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Roses Mill Road near Quarry Road.

The at-fault vehicle allegedly left the scene, police said. During their investigation, officers were notified of two more separate accidents involving a similar type vehicle, which was described as a white newer model Chevrolet pick-up truck that had also left the scene of those accidents, police said in a news release.

An eyewitness to the second accident was able to follow the vehicle into the parking lot of a Woodmont Road business, Keeper's Gentlemen's Club, and contacted police.

Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Kevin Merkle, 54, of Baldwin Road in Woodbridge, who is accused of driving his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and or drugs and fleeing the scene of three motor vehicle accident in which he was the at-fault driver, police said.

He is charged with DUI, evading responsibility, three counts, improper left turn, failure to drive right and unsafe backing. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond.
