Woodbridge Town Library Announces Partnership with Long Wharf Theatre

Woodbridge Town Library Announces Partnership with Long Wharf Theatre Over the Play Measure for Measure

The Woodbridge Town Library announces a partnership with Long Wharf Theatre in conjunction with Fiasco Theatre’s production of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure. The show will run from November 25 - December 20, 2015 on the Claire Tow Stage in the C. Newton Schenck III Mainstage Theatre a Long Wharf. The library will hold three events around the play that will allow all ages to become acquainted with Shakespeare and watch the play live at a discount.

New York City’s Fiasco Theatre sheds new light on one of Shakespeare’s darkest comedies with live music and a dose of moxie. When the Duke of Verona disguises himself as a friar among his people, he finds the city unraveling in an ethical free fall. Before he reclaims his dukedom, can he help the chaste Isabella save her brother from the condemnation of the villain Angelo? Fiasco’s creative ensemble illuminates Shakespeare's perplexing plots to tell this singular tale of morality and manipulation.

On Thursday, November 19 @ 7pm, the library will host a Behind the Scenes conversation with Whitney Locher, costume designer of Measure for Measure. Locher has over 100 design credits, served as the Associate Costume Designer for the 66th annual Tony Awards and is the Resident Costume Designer at Fiasco Theatre and Partial Comfort Productions. She will talk about the process, artistry, and story that goes into her work and shed light on the costumes in Measure for Measure. The evening will end with a scene acted out by local actors. This event will take place in the gymnasium of the Center Building next to the library. Registration is required and can be done online here, in person at the Circulation Desk, or by phone at 203-389-3433.
