Woodbridge Town Library to Remain Closed in July

Carpeting, drywall and lots of books were damaged when a second-floor toilet shut-off valve broke over the July 4th weekend.

Woodbridge, CT - Repairs to the Woodbridge Town Library will take the rest of the month to complete and the facility will remain closed, after a second-floor bathroom toilet shut-off valve broke over the July 4th weekend, according to library officials.

The library incurred heavy damages to carpeting, shelving, drywall furniture and more than $1,800 worth of books. Officials hope to reopen the facility by Aug. 1.

"While insurance should cover most of the cost of replacing all that was lost, it will still take quite some time to get the library ready to open again," officials wrote in an update on the library's website. "We will need to replace all of the carpeting in the Children’s Department and also a large amount of drywall. We also want to do everything we can to make sure the library is completely safe for patrons and staff members alike before we reopen. This will involve cleaning all of the carpets and all of the library’s ductwork."
