Would Bill Break Up Amity? Some Say Yes, Some Say No

Many Amity parents and lawmakers are concerned about a proposed bill that was just submitted to the General Assembly.

BETHANY/ORANGE/WOODBRIDGE, CT — I'm sure you've heard by now, there is a proposal, Senate Bill 454, in the General Assembly that would regionalize some school district's and GOP lawmakers representing the Amity Region 5 School District say the proposal would break up their district, the New Haven Register reports.

The four local lawmakers, Themis Klarides, Charles Ferraro, Kathy Kennedy, and Lezlye Zupkus say the bill would lead to the breakup of Amity High School. But the sponsor of the bill, Martin Looney, told the Register that the bill wouldn't impact Amity at all.

It appears the lawmakers agree to disagree on the impacts of the proposed bill.
