12-Year-Old Suffers Serious Injuries in 7-Vehicle Branford Accident on Monday: UPDATE
Connecticut State Police have released more details about the accident and what caused it.

Branford, CT - The pictures revealed a horrific accident and a day later more details have been released regarding the seven-vehicle accident from Monday afternoon.
According to Connecticut State Police, at 1:17 p.m. Monday State Troopers responded to a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 95 in the southbound side near Exit 54.
During their investigation, six vehicles had either slowed or stopped completely. But a large box truck traveling to the rear of these other six vehicles didn't stop causing a chain reaction of collisions, State Police said.

Reilly Traynor, 12, suffered serious injuries in the accident and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Reilly was in a vehicle driven by a Rye, NY man, according to State Police.
Four others suffered minor injuries while another person had possible injuries, according to State Police.

Branford and East Haven firefighters responded to the major accident on Monday afternoon. Branford fire officials at the time said some people were initially trapped in their vehicles and Branford and East Haven fire departments were able to extricate them.
“It took our crews nearly 25 minutes to extricate one of the seriously injured pediatric patients from the vehicle she was riding in,” Branford fire officials said.
