2 Teens Caught Breaking into Cars in Branford: PD
An alert resident phoned Branford police after she alerted something suspicious.

Branford’s Emergency Communications Center was contacted shortly after midnight by an alert resident of the Thimble Island Condominiums, 45 Jefferson Road, as she watched 2 individuals going into parked cars within the condominium parking area, police Capt. Geoffrey Morgan said in a news releasee.
Lt. John Alves, who commands the midnight shift, said that Officers Michael O’Connor, Christopher Cope, Bryan McGinnis and Jeffrey Zadjura swiftly located a 17 year-old juvenile and later located a second 15 year-old juvenile, both from New Haven in the condominium complex.
Police determined through their investigation that both juveniles had gone into a number of un-locked cars, rummaging through personal belongings and taking money, Morgan said in the release.

Police Chief Kevin Halloran said that this serves as a couple of constant reminders to the public.
First, the Chief said, “If you see something, say something by immediately reporting it to police.” Second, “Please remember to lock your vehicle when unattended to reduce the opportunity of becoming a victim by potential thieves.”

Both juveniles were referred to New Haven Juvenile Court for third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, and conspiracy to commit larceny sixth-degree. Both were later released to an immediate family member.
