Branford Scouting - Boy Scout Troop 633 Sailing in the Keys

Celebrating 10 Years of Scouting

Branford's Boy Scout Troop 633 is known for their active program participating in various service projects and community events such as parades, flag placements at the cemetery, and recently hosting a dinner for the veterans at VFW Local 12106. Equally as active is their outdoor program with camping all twelve months including winter camping with one reaching minus 15 degrees, camping in the mud at the United States Military Academy at West Point NY where they competed in various events hosted by the cadets, Backpacked over 50 miles on the Appalachian trail and many more. This year, they have capped off their 10th Anniversary with their largest trip yet. With fundraising efforts that spanned over a year, the older scouts of Troop 633 traveled to the Florida Keys to the BSA High Adventure Camp called Florida Seabase. There, they spent a week aboard the 41' sailboat called the Misty Shoals where Captain Brian taught the six boys how to run the ship during their five day trip. Fishing and lots of snorkeling at some of the most famous reefs in the world which included the Benwood wreck, Christ of the Abyss, Aligator Reef and much more where included in their adventure.

Not to be outdone by the older scouts, the younger scouts and girl's program enjoyed time at Cape Cod where many completed their first class rank cooking requirements, all enjoyed biking over 30 miles on the cape, visited the spot the pilgrims first landed and spent some time at the aquarium.

Troop 633 is part of the 633/1633 family of scouting serving both girls and boys ages 5-17.
