Branford Fire Department's Annual Report For FY 2025-2026 Released, Shows 7,367 Calls For Service
The 36-page report examines the BFD's existing capabilities and the growing demands on the community's emergency response system.

BRANFORD, CT — The Branford Fire Department has released its 2025-2026 fiscal year annual report, which the department says shows both the "value of the Branford Fire Department’s existing capabilities and the growing demands placed on the community’s emergency response system."
The 36-page report covers the department's emergency response activity, personnel, training, community involvement, and "some of the changes and accomplishments that shaped the year."
According to the report, in the past fiscal year, the department responded to 7,367 calls for service, some 20-plus incidents each day. The report notes that 33.4 percent of those occurred while another emergency was already in progress.

The department responded to 13 building fires, and 74 percent of its calls for service were for medical, rescue, and motor vehicle incidents.
The report also includes the fire department's continued investments in readiness, completing 20,300 hours of training across fire suppression, EMS, technical rescue, marine operations, hazardous materials, and officer development.

Additionally, fire prevention and community outreach remained "central to the mission," with 523 inspections completed, 1,480 fire safety systems tracked for compliance, and more than 30 community events and educational programs supported.
The report also noted the "positive impacts of staffing the Indian Neck station."
From November 2024 to August 2025, crews had already responded to more than 1,000 incidents.
