Branford Firefighters Respond To 5-Vehicle Crash Involving Dump Truck Loaded With Salt, Tow Truck
At 11 a.m., on I-95N, exits 55-56, the crash involved a tri-axle dump truck loaded with salt and a flatbed tow truck attending disabled car.
BRANFORD, CT — Branford firefighters responded to a five-vehicle crash on I-95 late Wednesday morning involving a tri-axle dump truck loaded with salt and a flatbed tow truck getting ready to haul a broken-down car. And according to photos, a small public bus, 9-Town Transit, was also one of the vehicles in the pileup.
According to its post on Facebook, the Branford Fire Department responded to the multi-vehicle accident on I-95 northbound between exits 55 and 56 at 10:58 a.m.
"All occupants had self-extricated prior to BFD’s arrival, except for one driver who remained inside an unstable vehicle that was at risk of rolling over," the department wrote. "Crews stabilized the vehicle and safely removed the patient."

Three patients were transported by two Branford Fire Department ambulances to area hospitals for evaluation of minor injuries, officials posted.
Firefighters remained on scene assisting multiple tow companies with scene safety, working alongside Connecticut State Police and the Department of Transportation to ensure all vehicles were safely removed, and the highway fully reopened, the department wrote.
