The Branford Board of Education unanimously approved the re-naming of the Branford High School Baseball Field as the George T. Dummar, Jr. Baseball Field, which is part of the James L. MacVeigh Alumni Athletic Complex.

It took place at their regular monthly meeting which took place on Wednesday, March 18. The recommendation was made by a sub-committee formed by Board of Ed Chairman, Michael Krause. Also serving on the committee along with Chairman, Krause, included, Vic Amatori, Jr., longtime statistician and volunteer coach, Ed Bethke, Head Baseball Coach, Joe Carbone, Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds for the Board of Ed, Karen Erickson, President, Branford Baseball Booster Club, and Ron Prior, Chairman, Branford Baseball Golf Committee.

Alex Palluzzi, Jr., Director of Parks & Recreation for the town of Branford and one of George’s closest friends was thrilled with the great news. “I am very happy for George’s sons, George III & Nick who played for their Dad, but also for his wife Patty, mom, Barbara, sister Denise, brother Tom and the entire Dummar family. George made a huge impact not only on the Branford High School Baseball Program but the entire baseball & sports community and was so deserving of this honor for his accomplishments in such a short period of time.”
