Branford Man Killed In Stabbing In West Haven: Reports

A Branford man has been identified as the victim of a fatal stabbing in West Haven, according to reports.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A Branford man has been identified as the victim of a fatal stabbing in West Haven on Sunday, according to multiple reports.

WFSB 3 reports Wilkins Castillo, 24, of West Haven, was arrested in connection with the stabbing and charged with murder and two counts of risk of injury, police said in an update on Wednesday.

Police also identified the victim as 35-year-old Robert Piccirillo of Branford, according to WTNH News 8.

Castillo was held in lieu of a $1 million bond, according to WFSB 3.

The arrest stems from an apparent domestic violence incident that happened around 5:20 p.m. on July 19 in the 200 block of Meadowbrook Court, according to police.

Sgt. Scott Allard previously said that officers immediately began lifesaving measures at the scene until emergency medical personnel arrived.

The complainant told officers at the scene that the suspect was still inside the apartment, according to Allard.

Officers entered the apartment and took the suspect into custody without incident, Allard said.

Allard said at the time that the incident appeared to be isolated and identified as family violence with “no active threat to the public.”
