Branford Parks & Rec Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, Parade Set

Slated for Saturday, Nov. 27, the holiday event coincides with Small Business Saturday.

BRANFORD, CT —Kick-off the holiday season with an evening of festive lights and holiday cheer as the Branford Parks & Recreation Department holds its annual tree lighting and holiday parade on the Town Green on Saturday, Nov. 27.

This year the parade will step off at 6:30 p.m. from Branford High School and march down East Main and Main streets, concluding with the tree lighting on the Green.

People who would like to participate in the parade — carrying a festive banner, creating a float, or wearing holiday costumes — are required to submit a participation form, which can be found online here. Forms must be received no later than Friday, Nov. 19.

Parks and Rec asks that marchers, "Be creative, carry festive banners, wear costumes, carry battery operated candles, create a float, a school float, a family float, a neighborhood float, a float representing your organization, your business, your religion. The sky is the limit. Have fun and join the parade. Just remember to be creative. Santa and Mrs. Claus from the North Pole, along with Rudolph will be on-site finishing off our parade. Please keep this in mind as we only want the one Santa."

Shop Small Business Saturday is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The parade kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

The tree lighting is at 7:15 p.m.
