Branford RTM to Vote on New Teachers Contract

The contract was approved by the Board of Education in November.

The new three-year teachers contract approved by the Branford Board of Education is in the process of being reviewed by the Representative Town Meeting Education Committee, The Sound reports.

Under the new contract, teachers would get a 9.6 percent raise spread over three years, the paper reports. With higher teacher contributions to health care costs and the new high deductible health care plan the raise is approximately 5.7 percent.

The committee heard a presentation on the new contract on Nov. 25 and will ask final questions on the contract at a special meeting on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Branford Fire Headquarters. A vote is expected on Dec. 10.
