Celebrate Women's History: Branford Grades 5-8 Student Essay Contest

In celebration of Women's History Month, state Rep. Robin Comey ​is sponsoring an essay contest for Branford students in 5th to 8th grades.

BRANFORD, CT — In celebration of Women's History Month, state Rep. Robin Comey is sponsoring an essay contest for Branford students in 5th to 8th grades.

Entries are due by March 24.

"It is so important for women and girls to see themselves represented in our history," Comey wrote. "This essay contest will provide the opportunity for students to recognize and reflect on women's achievements and how we are better because of them."

Students may choose from one of the following essay prompts:

  • Who is the most influential woman in your life today, and why?
  • Who is your favorite woman in history and why?

Responding in 200 words or fewer, participating students must submit their essay by Friday, March 24 via email to Grady.Brockway@cga.ct.gov using the subject line, "Branford Essay Contest."
