ESCA Grad Davin Garamella Honored for Life Saving Heroic Efforts

Davin Garamella was recently honored for his heroic efforts in saving an elderly man from drowning in the sound off of Morgan Avenue in East Haven. On July 19 Davin saw a man face down in the water, and quickly went over to see if he was ok. When he saw the man was not responding he quickly went into action and pulled him out of the water and called 911. His quick and decisive action enabled the responding East Haven fire department team to resuscitate him.

Davin received two awards on Monday evening, July 27: a Civilian Life Saving Award presented to him by Matthew Marcarelli, East Haven Fire Department Chief (on behalf of the Fire Department and Board of Fire Commissioners), and a Mayoral Proclamation Award from Mayor Joseph Carfora. Garamella also received a Lifeguard Training Certification honorarium, and was featured in the July 30 East Haven Courier as “Person of the Week” (link below).
