Genealogical Research in Your Own Hometown

“Genealogical research in your hometown” will be the subject of a talk by Greg Thompson sponsored by the Branford Historical Society on Thursday, October 27th at 7pm at the Blackstone Library.

            According to Thompson, every town has its own treasure trove of documents which can be used for genealogical research. He will cover using the library, the historical society, the town hall, the cemetery and what documents can be found in each location.  The public is welcome to attend. 

            The speaker has been researching his family for almost forty years.  Among his ancestors are twelve Mayflower passengers, Pocahontas, Charlemagne, the Emperor of Rome and several colonial clergyman and governors.

            He is presently the Archivist of the Connecticut Society of Mayflower Descendant's, the Archivist of the Old Saybrook Historical Society and the Historian of the Elder William Brewster Society.  He also help clients their family history.
