This course takes the individual step by step through the Probate Process providing enough hands on information that would allow any individual who might be an Executor to a Will, or an Administrator where there was no Will, to bring the matter through the probate process.

The course would explain the following basics involving Probate Court:

How and why do probate courts become involved in the settling of decedent’s estates?

What are the responsibilities of a fiduciary in the handling of a decedent’s estate and when should a fiduciary seek professional assistance?

Is there a simplified procedure for settling small estates with limited types of assets?

This course will take the individual through the following step by step process of probating an estate:

File Will and application to probate Will within 30 days of decedent’s death.
STEP 2:  Take possession of the decedent’s property. 
File a notice with the court if the decedent owned real estate.

File an inventory of all assets belonging to the decedent.

Obtain cash as needed for the estate.

Notify the court of all claims made by creditors against the estate.

File Tax Returns and pay any taxes due within 9 months of decedent’s death.

File Final Account within 12 months of decedent’s death.

Distribute assets to beneficiaries.

File Closing Statement.
