The Excel Club: Kids Helping Kids Cope
Branford High School students raised the money to fill backpacks with stuffed animals and essentials for kids displaced by emergencies.

BRANFORD, CT — The Branford High School Excel Club, under the leadership of Ms. Montano, put together backpacks for children that may be displaced from their homes for emergency reasons. These backpacks contain essentials along with stuffed animals and toys.
Branford Police heralded the effort as a "wonderful idea that the students in the club had come up with themselves."
The Excel Club is part of the Branford Exchange Club, a civic organization that supports the Branford Community and the prevention of child abuse.

Police said folks will recognize the Club by is tent at the Branford Festival with "the famous fried dough."
The Club also raised the money needed for K9 Arrow's bulletproof vest.
