Here's The Buzz: Parks & Rec Annual Spelling Bee Slated

For decades, the spelling contest was run by Jeannette Palluzzi, who passed away in 2021. Now the bee, set for March 12, is named for her.

BRANFORD, CT — More than a bee, it's a decades-long Branford tradition, a young speller's rite of passage. Run for 40 years by Jeannette Palluzzi it's now named in her honor.

An admired longtime educator, she died in July 2021 at age 87.

Her husband Alexander A. Palluzzi, Sr. died just four months before at age 92.

Set for March 12, the Branford Parks & Recreation’s Jeannette A. Palluzzi Annual Memorial Spelling Bee, will be held at the Joe Trapasso Community House, 46 Church St., from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The annual bee, scuttled by the pandemic for the past two years, is open to students from grades 3 to 12, it also includes a spelling contest for adults spellers.
