'Hope' Finds Forever Home Following Recovery From Extreme Animal Cruelty

Hope was a day or two away from death before she was taken to the shelter, and now she has finally found her forever home.

(Editor's Note: For those of you who haven't been following the story of Hope, you've missed a lot. More than two months ago someone driving by saw a dog struggling to walk in Branford. She took the dog to the Dan Csogrove Animal Shelter and the staff there called it "one of the worst cases of animal cruelty" they had ever seen. The staff said the dog was starved and a day or two away from death. Over the past two months, shelter staff and local vets cared for the dog and named her 'Hope.' A reward of $5,000 has been issued by PETA. The shelter has been providing updates concerning Hope's recovery.)

“My husband and I first and foremost want to express how truly joyous and honored we are to have been chosen as Hope’s forever home. Furthermore we realize that none of this would have been possible without the incredible community effort.

Between the thousands of dollars donated, countless hours from Branford Veterinary Hospital and Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center and the entire team at the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, we are truly fortunate to have such wonderful people in our community.

We will do our best to keep the shelter updated with Hope’s milestones and will put a small set of photos together to show what the past few months have been like. Our goal is to give Hope the happiest, safest and most loving home possible.

As a result we hope that the community will respect our privacy as we continue to work on Hope’s rehabilitation, social skills and medical needs.

Thank you all once again and we hope that this journey has inspired you, as much as it has inspired us. We could not be happier to adopt Hope and make her a member of our family.”

Hope is still gaining weight and is being weaned off her medication. She is also undergoing rehabilitation with socialization both with shelter staff and a dog trainer.

We will continue to post about Hope's progress once a month so everyone can follow her accomplishments...we are very proud of Hope's adopters and all that they have done to help Hope achieve all that they have.

Congratulations!
