Hope Returning to a 'Fun Loving Dog Again'

Animal control staff say Hope was a day or two away from death when they found her and for the past two months she's been recovering.

(Editor's Note: For those of you who haven't been following the story of Hope, you've missed a lot. Almost seven weeks ago someone driving by saw a dog struggling to walk in Branford. She took the dog to the Dan Csogrove Animal Shelter and staff called it "one of the worst cases of animal cruelty" they had ever seen. Staff said the dog was starved and was a day or two away from death. Over the past seven weeks, shelter staff and local vets have cared for the dog around the clock and named it 'Hope.' A reward of $5,000 has been issued by PETA for information on who did this to 'Hope.' The shelter has been providing updates concerning Hope's recovery.)

Hi Everyone Here is the Hope Update for this week!

Hope is still doing an amazing job of healing and learning about being a fun loving dog again! She is almost at 60 pounds now! Believe it or not she still has another 10-15 pounds to put on! Her blood work still looks good and she is still eating small, regular amounts. And BOY is she is a good eater!

She is now on a bland specialized food, but no longer is she eating low fat. Hope continues to amaze us with her strength, spunk and spirit! We will forever be impressed by this beautiful, loving girl!

We will post again next Monday about Hope and we will also be looking to set up a meet and greet for people to see her. Hope can still be nervous at times around strangers, so we will continue to work with her on building trust with new people.

Thanks again to everyone who continues to reach out on behalf of Hope to check on her and to give her good wishes!!
