BRANFORD, CT — Celebrate Earth Day by helping the Branford Land Trust to continue its efforts in removing invasive species at Johnson's Point Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

"We aim to continue our work here, primarily removing invasive species that have sprawled along the roadsides," it's noted by the Land Trust.

"Multiflora rose, Asiatic bittersweet, and burning bush were most prevalent last year," it was noted and, "Chinese silvergrass was also observed spreading into the high marsh area as well."

What to bring: waterproof/work boots, hand tools (pruners and loppers mostly), work gloves, and any water/snack you prefer. I will have extra tools on hand to borrow (including the weed wrench!). I will also bring trash and leaf bags.

Where to park: Navigate to Johnson’s Point Road in Branford – off of Short Beach Road or Route 142. These BLT properties are within a private, gated community. You will pull up to a gate blocking the road shortly after passing 29 Johnson’s Point Road (the closest navigable address). Once I open the gate, there is limited parking on the west side of Johnson’s Point Road before it intersects with Wood Rd. We will park in the grassy area off the road and make the short walk over to the work area.
