Lifting Up The Branford High School Class Of 2020 With Balloons

From the Branford High School Project Graduation Committee:

"On normal years, the Project Graduation Committee for the Branford High School holds a substance-free event the night of graduation for seniors to have some fun and stay safe. This year there will be no Project Graduation event due to the pandemic. Our seniors are missing out on so many of their end of school year activities and so many people in town want to contribute in some way to make it brighter for our seniors.

This year our “Balloons for Seniors” fundraiser got huge with over 1100 balloons sold!! In addition, the Project Graduation Committee committed to making sure each BHS senior received at least 2 balloons including those that live out of town. All profits from balloon sales will be given back to the Class of 2020!

We wanted to make the balloon delivery a little more fun for seniors, so we invited the Branford Fire Department and Branford Police Department to participate – and they said YES! We will be delivering the balloons on school buses/vans with cars and minivans in tow with more balloons, playing music, displaying posters and delivering gift certificates (compliments of Branford B’s and the Hornets Nest Deli) to every senior in town! We have an amazing number of volunteers from town who will participate in filling (helium donated by American Compressed Gas Corp. of CT) and delivering balloons on buses paid for by the BOE and driven by our wonderful bus drivers all while observing social distancing guidelines.

The buses will be following their normal school bus routes for the most part. We will have 3 buses and 2 vans to deliver the Balloons for Seniors on Friday June 12th. Attached you will find a general schedule by bus route with balloon delivery time frames. We hope the seniors will be home so we can bring a little joy to their day and CONGRATULATE THEM!!!!
