Lincoln Is Happy, Healthy, And Ready To Meet His Forever Family
Like a rough-and-tumble toddler, good boy Lincoln may be a little handful, but a loving one. He's been through a lot. Now he needs a home.

BRANFORD, CT — Everyone's been rooting for Lincoln, the dog abandoned left in the street on a frigid night last month to fend for himself. Discovered by a early morning jogger with just a bath towel for warmth and rife with frostbite, the neglected and undernourished canine was rescued and restored to good health by the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter staff.
When found, the dog the shelter would name Lincoln, had severely frostbitten paws and he could barely walk, was nearly 20 pounds underweight, had mange, and badly overgrown toenails and pressure sores from being crated.
The photos of this poor dog are still very hard to see.

In the days after he was saved, thousands of people on social media were rooting for the dog, donations to help support his care, and soon, rewards were offered for the arrest and conviction of whoever dumped the dog.
Over the course of many weeks, he was treated by a vet, and cared for by shelter staff. And he rebounded. Made new friends and for Lincoln, a future.

Now, the dog who could is ready to be adopted.
On its Facebook post updating folks on the good boy, the animal shelter noted that he's as happy as a pup. And all that comes with that toddler stage. He's "still in the chewing phase, he likes to steal stuff, and he is mostly potty trained."
It's said that he would do well living in a forever home with a "well-trained social dog, cats are fine too" and kids over 14 "should be OK."
But Lincoln is a "typical boy" and plays hard so would do well with "rough and tumble" older kids.
Lincoln loves to play with toys, "chew on whimzees, do zoomies in the back yard, jump on everything, steal snacks and sit on your lap while you are trying to work," the post reads.
However, he does have some lingering "fear issues" with adult men.
"...So if there is a man interested or is a part of the family, he should be positive, encouraging, soft-spoken, easy-going and dog-savvy," the shelter noted on Facebook.
Ideally, Lincoln should go home to a house with a "fenced in yard and an active family who go for walks everyday and hiking as well."
A 2-year-old mix breed, he's vaccinated, micro-chipped, heart worm-tested and and neutered. He does have skin allergies and will need special food for his life.
