Local Heroes: Amy McKechnie For Keeping Branford Caffeinated

For Patch editors, a good coffee shop (or "The Coffice" as we're fond of calling it) is key to success. 

If editors get a lot of work done at The Coffice, than a good barista is basically part of the workforce. One of the best on the shoreline is Amy McKechnie, who is keeping Branford (not to mention the Branford Patch staff) caffeinated out of on Main Street. For that reason, this week our local hero is Amy for with a smile (and just a little "tough cookie" attitude).

Q: What's your favorite part your job?

A: I like meeting new people. Interacting with people – it's the best. I get some of the same people every morning. I love it, it's like family. I don't even ask them what they want, it's like an assembly line. I just put it down, they take it, they go. 

Q: What's your least favorite part of the job?

A: Getting up early in the morning. Is that a common one [laughs]? But we open up at six, so thankfully it's not too bad. 

Q: Meeting all those people, do you feel like you know everything that's happening in Branford?

A: Yes. Politics, news, gossip, the whole thing. Sometimes I feel like a therapist!

Q: What's your dream job?

A: Well, I'm a cosmetology student so I will be doing my dream job. Doing hair and make-up, that's my thing.
