Cops processed 2 motel rooms, but what happened in those rooms isn't clear. The "shooter" claims they were robbed and shot the man, cops say

BRANFORD, CT — The office of the state medical examiner is trying to make a positive identification of the man found shot to death in Branford Motel room in the pre-dawn hours Thursday, police said Friday morning.
The man had no identification, and Branford Police Deputy Chief John Alves said that he was "allegedly unknown to those involved."
At around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning, police were summoned to the East Main Street motel where they encountered the "shooter," who claimed that they were robbed by the man, and shot him, multiple times, police said.

Police went into a room and found an "armed" man who'd been shot "multiple" times, Alves said. Despite attempts to perform life-saving measures, the man was already dead.
At 10 a.m. Thursday, the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crimes unit arrived at the 470 East Main St., motel to work with Branford police in processing the rooms.

Alves said police got several search warrants for two rooms at the rear of the East Main Street motel and for "multiple vehicles" investigators found are "involved in the incident. "
As of late Thursday afternoon, the scene was cleared, Alves said.
Alves said that all the people and the weapons involved were accounted for and there are "no associated public safety concerns."
As was posted on Facebook, and as Alves told Patch, releasing further details "may jeopardize the outcome of the investigation."
