Multi-Town Traffic Enforcement Initiative Hits The Streets In Branford
As part of the traffic enforcement effort Patch wrote about in mid-June, 9 officers from 6 towns conducted 55 car stops in Branford Tuesday.

BRANFORD, CT — As Patch shared earlier this month, police from six towns, including Branford, have partnered to make roadways safer for all with a new traffic enforcement initiative.
The goal and priority is safety, but as was explained, the biggest quality-of-life complaints cops hear from residents has to do with traffic, and specifically, the enforcement of traffic laws, or lack thereof. Speeders, reckless drivers, aggressive drivers, impaired drivers, distracted drivers.
The new multi-town traffic enforcement initiative that began June 15 in East Haven includes the towns of North Haven, North Branford, Branford, Guilford and Madison.

So Branford police, took to Facebook to explain:
"We received many calls yesterday about the officers working a regional traffic enforcement initiative in town.
We had nine officers from six towns in seven areas conduct fifty-five motor vehicle stops. That’s a lot of numbers there. It does not compare to the number of calls we receive for speeding complaints, general traffic issues and requests for traffic enforcement on a daily basis. We receive calls, emails and messages…every day…on every shift…from concerned citizens requesting officer presence and enforcement.
We know that it has been tough for everyone after a long couple of years with the pandemic, shut down of motor vehicle agencies, folks working from home, and other changes, so for yesterday’s initiative, our intent was to educate motorists.
For the overwhelming majority of vehicle stops, warnings were given.
Our priority is to keep our community and roadways safe. We just wanted to give all our followers an update in case you saw us out there!"
