Murphy Principal Gets Dunked! w/video

Students at were presented with a reading challenge: if, as a school, they could read 6,000 books, their principal, Anthony Buono, would dress as Princess Fiona from Shrek–complete with high heels–and get in the dunk tank at the Reading Carnival.

The students more than made good on the challenge and Buono kept up his end of the bargain. With the entire school watching, Buono came out of the school to chants of 'Princess Fiona, Princess Fiona, Princess Fiona' in a red braided wig, green makeup, a dress and, of course, high heels.

The top readers from each grade were announced and each were given three chances to take aim at dunking their principal. Buono was dunked four times with his green makeup almost completely washed away by the dunkings by the end.

Throughout the day, each grade had a chance to enjoy the Reading Carnival. There were games run by parent volunteers, a face-painting station, temporary tattoos, button- and bookmark-making and the dunk tank, which was manned by various staff members for each grade. Students also had class pictures taken in front of Shrek's castle and were treated to Shrek ice pops thanks to the school PTA.
